Kevin Durant’s Net Worth, Personal Life and NBA Records

Kevin Durant has built a legacy for himself as one of the most dominant players in modern basketball, but his impact goes far beyond the court. With a career spanning over a decade, the NBA superstar, 36, has made headlines not just for his performance, but also for his influence, brand power, and strategic moves off the hardwood.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Kevin Wayne Durant was born on September 29, 1988, in Washington, D.C. When he was still an infant, his father deserted the family, and his parents eventually divorced. In this regard, Durant’s grandmother helped raise him.

He has a sister, Brianna, and two brothers, Tony and Rayvonne. They grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. Durant’s father returned to his life when he was 13, and together they spent time traveling the country to basketball tournaments.

During his early career life, Kevin Durant played in Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball for a couple of teams in the Maryland area growing up and was teammates with fellow future NBA players Greivis Vasquez, Michael Beasley, and Ty Lawson.

Kevin Durant wears number 35 in honor of his youth coach, Charles Craig who was murdered at the age of 35. He played high school basketball at National Christian Academy, Oak Hill Academy, and Montrose Christian School.

Durant also enjoyed a successful college career playing for the Texas Longhorns at the University of Texas at Austin. He was recognized as the unanimous national player of the year and won the John R. Wooden Award, the Naismith College Player of the Year Award, and eight other honors and awards. After the season, he declared for the NBA draft.

Professional Basketball Career

Durant was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA draft as the second overall pick. In 2008, the SuperSonics relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder. During the 2008-2009 season, he was nominated for the Most Improved Player Award but didn’t win it.

He became the youngest NBA scoring champion during the 2009-10 season as he took part in his first NBA All-Star Game. Durant eventually won the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award during the 2011-2012 All-Star Game.

During the 2013-2014 season, he surpassed Michael Jordan’s record for consecutive games scoring 25 points or more, with 41 games, and was voted the NBA Most Valuable Player. He left the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016, officially signing a two-year contract with the Golden State Warriors.

He re-signed with the Warriors in July 2018 on another two-year contract, then in July 2019, Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets in a sign-and-trade deal.

Kevin Durant Net Worth in 2025

As of 2025, Kevin Durant’s net worth is estimated at $300 million. His wealth emanates from more than just basketball. He earns money from sponsorships, NBA contracts, and business investments. Actually, he is one of the highest-paid basketball players in the world.

Durant has a lifetime deal with Nike, worth over $300million. He also works with top brands like Google, Gatorade, Beats by Dre, and American Family Insurance. These endorsements add tens of millions to his income every year.

Kevin Durant is now in the late stage of his playing career. However, he’s still performing at a high level with the Phoenix Suns. He plans to stay involved in sports and business after retirement.

With smart money moves and strong personal branding, Kevin Durant’s net worth will grow even after he leaves the court. Whether scoring on the court or making business deals, Durant continues to impress.
