MG Cyberster: The Electric Roadster Redefining Performance and Style

The MG Cyberster is a bold example of how classic roadster style and cutting-edge electric performance can work together in a world where electric vehicles (EVs) are changing the way cars are made. This all-electric, two-door convertible sports car from MG Motor was released in India in July 2025. Its eye-catching design, fast performance, and price make it a great alternative to traditional luxury sports cars. The Cyberster costs ₹75 lakh (ex-showroom) and is more than just a car; it’s a sign of MG’s desire to combine its long history with the future of driving. This is a detailed look at what makes the MG Cyberster a game-changer.

The MG Cyberster is based on the famous MGB Roadster from the 1960s, which set the standard for driving with the top down for a whole generation. The Cyberster is not a retro throwback, though. It’s a completely new electric vehicle that combines MG’s century-old sports car legacy with cutting-edge design and technology. Its sleek, aerodynamic shape, which includes a Kammback rear (a design feature that is also found on famous cars like the Ferrari 250 GTO and Aston Martin DB6), scissor doors, and a soft-top roof that can be folded down, makes it stand out wherever it goes. The front end has LED headlights and active aero vents that pay homage to the classic MG waterfall grille while also looking to the future.

The Cyberster’s outside is as much about performance as it is about style. It comes in six bright colors and has unique 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels with red Brembo calipers. There aren’t many cars in this class with scissor doors, but they give the car a supercar look. Some reviews say that the doors don’t open as quickly as they should, though. The convertible roof, which works at speeds below 50 km/h, makes driving with the top down even better. Every trip is a celebration of freedom and excitement.

The MG Cyberster has a 77 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. These two things work together to power the car. This setup gives the Cyberster a mind-blowing 503 horsepower (375 kW) and 725 Nm of torque, which lets it go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. These numbers are on par with those of supercars that cost a lot more. The claimed range is an impressive 580 km (CLTC cycle) or 443 km (WLTP cycle), but in the real world, it may be different depending on how you drive, the temperature, and how much weight you have.

Drivers can choose from four driving modes on the Cyberster: Comfort, Sport, Custom, and Super Sport. This lets them customize the experience to fit their mood. You can easily get the most out of the car with the red “Super Sport” button on the flat-bottom steering wheel. It turns on a launch control-like feature that lets you go as fast as possible. The car can stop from 100 km/h in just 33 meters thanks to its 50:50 weight distribution, custom Pirelli tires, and four-piston Brembo brakes. Some reviews, on the other hand, say that the high seating position, which is caused by the battery placement, may take away from the low-slung sports car feel.

Charging is easy for an EV of this level; with a 150 kW ultra-fast charger, you can get a 10–80% charge in less than 30 minutes, though these chargers may not always be available. MG’s Modular Scalable Platform, which is also used in the MG4 hatchback, supports the Cyberster’s performance. This makes it simple and reliable, and it comes with a seven-year warranty.

When you get into the Cyberster, the cockpit is futuristic and focused on the driver. It feels like a fighter jet. The tri-cluster dashboard has a 10.25-inch central display with two 7-inch screens on either side. It shows a lot of information, from navigation to charging status. There is another touchscreen below that controls the climate, but some reviewers say it is not as easy to use as physical buttons. The cabin is decorated with a mix of fake leather, suede, and soft-touch plastics that give it a high-end feel. The Y-shaped sports seats come in Grey & White or Red & Black and are adjustable and supportive, so you can be comfortable on long drives.

The 8-speaker Bose audio system with engine sound simulation makes the experience even more real by giving clear vocals and deep bass. When the roof is down, though, it can be hard to read the screens in direct sunlight, and the steering wheel might block some of the side displays. Even with these oddities, the Cyberster’s interior is a good mix of high-tech luxury and the thrill of a sports car.

The safety features are strong, with four airbags, Level 2 ADAS (which includes lane keep assist, active emergency braking, and forward collision warning), and a camera that can see all around the car. The Cyberster hasn’t been crash-tested yet, but its Brembo brakes and suite of driver aids make me feel safe.

The MG Cyberster is the most affordable two-door electric sports car in India. It costs ₹75 lakh (with a promotional price of ₹72.49 lakh for early pre-bookers), which is less than what traditional roadster competitors like the BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet charge. The first luxury experience center opened in Thane, Mumbai, and the car is sold through MG’s premium Select dealer network. It comes from China as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Deliveries started on August 10, 2025, and the car has already gotten good reviews for how “cool” it is and how well it works.

That said, the Cyberster isn’t perfect. People have said bad things about the high seating position and the complicated screen interface. The small trunk also makes it hard to use for long trips. Also, since it only seats two people, it’s not great for families, but that fits with its roadster style.

The MG Cyberster is a great deal in terms of style, performance, and price. It has the speed and style of a supercar at a price that makes electric sports cars available to everyone. It may not drive as well as a Porsche Boxster or have as nice of an interior as a Mercedes, but it does have something special: the fun of driving with the top down and no emissions, as well as a nod to MG’s long history. The Cyberster is a great choice for fans who want a mix of nostalgia and new ideas. It also shows that electric performance cars have a bright future.

Posts on X show that the Cyberster has gotten Indian car fans excited, with many calling its design and performance a “surprise package.” The MG Cyberster is changing what an electric roadster can be, whether you like its scissor doors, fast acceleration, or the idea of being free with the wind in your hair.
