Rabbit Grooming: A Beginners Guide

Are you a proud owner of a rabbit pet? Congratulations! One area about rabbit care that new bunny parents often get confused a lot revolves around grooming. Should you bather Floppy? What exactly does your furry pal need, as far as rabbit full grooming is concerned?

Worry not since you can always handle this part of bun care without going through a lot. The secret lies in taking the time to understand what is expected of you, and you’re good to. For starters, you need to have a clear insight into the essential tips for bathing your rabbit safely and effectively.

It is worth mentioning that we don’t usually advice bathing rabbits. After all, rabbits get cold very easily, and also get very stressed from being wet. Actually, bunnies can even go into shock by being bathed. If your bunny ever gets waste stuck to her bottom, you may have to clean this area.

All it takes is for you to fill a litterbox with a few inches of warm water. Put a towel in the bottom, and then place your bunny’s rear in the water. Hold her paws, so only het bottom gets wet, and swish the water around to clean her.

While you pet doesn’t need regular baths, she definitely does need to be brushed regularly. You’ll need to be extremely gentle with this, as rabbit skin is very fragile and tears easily. Be sure to use a detangling brush to remove any mats. When your bunny molts, she’ll need daily brushings. The good news is you can always turn to a rabbit full grooming service to help you in this regard.

As for the nails, you should remember that they can get quite sharp, and can easily snag in tear on carpets or upholstery. In this regard, be sure to trim your pet’s nails regularly. Most rabbits should have pedicures about every month or so. Ask your vet for specific instructions.

Of course, we can never forget about the eyes since they make get dust. If your pet can’t open her eyes or is you see any sort of thick gunk or discharge, you’ll want t contact your vet. But if you suspect your bun just has a bit of dust or debris in her eye, you can clean it gently using a clean cloth and warm water. Remember, there is nothing wrong with paying for rabbit full grooming services.
