Perfectly Caring for Your Rabbit While on Holiday

When you having a rabbit as part of your family, all your care and attention is rewarded when you get you know them and find out what other remarkable personalities they have. But what happens when you want to go on holiday? Rabbits require lots of space, they are sensitive little pets and they need to feel safe.

In short, chances are you might not be travelling with your rabbit. For this reason, you’ll want to know your rabbits are in good hands while on vacation. Your options are either have someone come to care for them in your own home, or to take them to a rabbit hotel? So, how do you go about this expedition?

Home Care for Rabbits

You could always have a friend, neighbor, or relative stay at your home and pet-sit for you, or if they live close by, they could pop in several times a day to check on your pet, feed and water them and keep them clean. If there’s no one to help, you could try finding a professional pet sitter.

The good thing about finding a pet sitter is that they have experience in looking after rabbits. Some pet-sitters may even have veterinary nursing qualifications. Many pet-sitters today have an online presence, and you should be able to find reviews from previous customers. Otherwise, word of mouth is often a remarkable way to find trustworthy pet careers.

Rabbit Boarding

If you feel happier for your rabbits to go stay in a boarding facility or rabbit hotel, these are another great options. An online search should offer you with a number of potential rabbit careers near you. Some of these also board and care for other small pets, including guinea pigs, hamsters, and rats.

Be sure to do your research, read customer reviews and, if you think you may have found a suitable rabbit hotel, arrange to visit them so you can see where your rabbits would be staying and meet the people taking care of them.

Before heading off on your vacation, a few preparations can make for peace of mind while you’re away. Jolt down clearly for whomever is caring for your rabbits exactly what you normally feed them. Give quantities and timing as accurately as possible. Ensure you give them enough supplies to see your rabbits through to your return home.
